MAGLA Supports Safer Learning Spaces For Malawi’s Children

The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) has purchased land for the relocation and construction of Mpatsa Primary School and a Teacher Development Centre (TDC) in Nsanje District, supporting efforts to provide a safer and more conducive learning environment for over 2,600 learners.

Mpatsa Primary School was damaged by Cyclone Freddy in March 2023, leaving learners facing difficult learning conditions. Some have been attending lessons in temporary shelters, while others have been learning under trees.

The investment in land is aimed at improving access to quality education and supporting the wellbeing of learners and teachers.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, MAGLA Director General Muchanankhwaye Mpuluka reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting initiatives that uplift communities and improve lives.

“Children deserve to learn in an environment that is safe, dignified and conducive for their development,” he said.

Through the Gaming and Lotteries Fund, MAGLA remains committed to supporting social development initiatives that create meaningful impact in communities across Malawi.
