MAGLA and Angola’s Gaming Inspection and Regulation Service Strengthen Regulatory Cooperation
On Wednesday, 13 August, a delegation from the Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA), led by Director General Muchanankhwaye Mpuluka, met with officials from Angola’s Gaming Inspection and Regulation Service (ISJ) to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions and promote the exchange of regulatory knowledge and best practices in the gaming and lottery sector. The meeting, chaired by the Director General of the ISJ, Nerethz Tati, provided an opportunity to exchange views and reflect on the gaming sector, with particular focus on the regulatory challenges faced by the two African counterpart institutions and on opportunities to strengthen institutional cooperation. During the meeting, the possibility of establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ISJ and MAGLA was also discussed, with the aim of enhancing institutional cooperation and mutual technical assistance. This initiative is of particular importance given that a significant number of operators active in the Angolan and Malawian markets operate in both countries. Strengthened collaboration between the two regulators will support more effective and coordinated regulation of the sector. The meeting therefore reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to promoting a gaming sector that is increasingly safe, responsible, transparent and well regulated through the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
